Cairo (UNA-OIC) – Considering that all the African Member States of WDO are also members of the African Union, the Women Development Organization’s team met with their counterparts from the Women, Gender and Youth Directorate of the African Union, to explore possible fields for collaboration and partnership.

Counsellor Fatma Alzahraa Abdelkawy, the Director for Program, Policy and Intergovernmental Support of WDO briefly presented the organization and its four thematic pillars which are currently guiding the development of its First Strategy and Action Plan for the coming years as well as the major activities carried out by the organization so far.

The Women, Gender, and Youth Directorate at the African Union Commission led by Ms. Prudence Ngwenya presented their different areas of intervention and interest and expressed their readiness to cooperate on specific issues that are in line with the quadruple mandate of the directorate which is also similar to the four thematic pillars of WDO.

The technical teams will hold intensive meetings in the coming few weeks to determine the key avenues for cooperation and also outline a collaborative framework that will steer the partnership forward.
