Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Jeddah Talgat R. Shaldanbay on Wednesday visited the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA), where he was received by Acting UNA Director-General Mohammed Abd Rabbo Al-Yami.
During the meeting at the UNA headquarters in Jeddah, the Kazakh diplomat listened to a detailed explanation of the Union’s vision for the coming years, which revolves around its role as a major media platform for member states, and advancement of the media industry, based on Islamic and media values that encourage transparency, credibility and tolerance.
The meeting also reviewed the role of UNA in providing strategic media consultancy to member states through representatives of official national news agencies, as well as the Union’s plan to hold a series of training sessions for media people during the coming period.
The Consul General praised the Union’s role in forging fostering media relations between the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in addition to strengthening professional links between media workers. He also stressed Kazakhstan’s keenness to provide the Union with the necessary support in order to assume its role in the media and cultural fields.
