China ambassador: US has no right to intervene in Taiwan issue

In an exclusive interview IRNA, China’s ambassador said that  Taiwan is part of China and this is an unchangeable fact.

He said that China is after finding a peaceful settlement to the Taiwanese issues.

Some 25 million Chinese people are living in Taiwan and the Beijing government is seeking a peaceful return of the island to China and does not intend to make use of the military option, Ambassador Chang said in reference to a recent visit to Taiwan by Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi.

He, however, said that the Chinese Army is responsible to protect the one-China policy.

In 1971, the United Nations approved that there is only one China in the world, the ambassador said.

He added that diplomatic relations between China and the United States were established in 1979 when the US pledged to respect the one-China policy.

He noted that the visit to Taiwan by Pelosi is a breach of this principle in diplomatic relations between China and the United States which violates the one-China policy.
