Bangladesh approves local production of Russian, Chinese COVID-19 vaccines

Dhaka (UNA-OIC) – Bangladesh’s Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday approved a proposal to produce China’s Sinopharm and Russia’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccines in the country, to ensure that shots are available to everyone.

The approval came during the 14th meeting of the committee, which was held virtually under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Mustafa Kemal.

After the meeting, the minister said that the production of Chinese and Russian vaccines have been approved. He indicated that the Bangladeshi government would seek, at the same time, to buy more doses from the Serum Institute of India (SII), the world’s biggest vaccine manufacturer.
