AU PSC approves Algeria's proposal to create African fund for climate change disasters

Addis Ababa (UNA-OIC) – The African Union’s Peace and Security Council (PSC) on Tuesday approved Algeria’s proposal to create a special fund to address the negative impact of climate change and a continental framework to guide collective action within the AU on climate.

Algeria Press Service (APS) reported that Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune urged the AU member countries at a video conference of the PSC to establish an African fund for climate change disasters, with the contribution of the wealthiest African countries, and assistance of the UN Secretary-General, the Security Council and everyone involved in climate change issue.

Tuesday’s meeting discussed climate change and its impact on peace and security in Africa.
