Cairo (UNA-OIC) – The Arab Parliament called on Ethiopia to respond to the ongoing efforts to resolve the Renaissance Dam crisis by reaching a legal and binding agreement regarding the filling and operation of the dam.
Arab Parliament Speaker Adel Al-Asoumi stressed the need for the Ethiopian side to seize this international, regional and Arab momentum that strongly supports the negotiations with the aim of reaching a final settlement of the crisis in a manner that achieves the interests of the three countries (Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan) in protecting water security and realizing sustainable development.
The Parliament Speaker also reiterated the Arab Parliament’s firm position against any unilateral measures that would harm the legal and historical rights of Egypt and Sudan in the waters of the Nile River.
