Algiers (UNA-OIC) – The Algerian national hydrocarbon company, Sonatrach, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with its Indonesian partner Pertamina to strengthen their strategic collaboration to increase their portfolio of activities in Algeria and worldwide.
The MoU, signed by Sonatrach CEO Toufik Hakkar with Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati, sets stages for cooperation in several areas, including work on new or existing projects in the upstream, in addition to supply and shipping of crude and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
The agreement also allows for the provision of a drilling fluid, Smooth Fluid, from Pertamina. Other areas include renewable energy, in particular solar photovoltaic (PV), and research and development.
Pertamina, together with Sonatrach and another partner, is currently exploiting the MLN field and nearby fields, which is the Indonesian company’s first upstream project in the exploitation stage abroad.
