Algeria announces opening of borders with Niger to ease trade exchange

Algiers (UNA-OIC) – Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced here on Tuesday the opening of the land borders between Algeria and Niger, to ease trade exchanges between the two neighboring countries.

This came during a joint press briefing between President Tebboune and his Nigerien counterpart Mohamed Bazoum, who is currently on an official visit to Algeria.

Tebboune said he fully agreed on the topics highlighted by Bazoum, which aim to strengthen cooperation in all fields, including hydraulic, oil and trade.

Algeria and Niger have agreed to open the borders to ease import and export operations between the two countries, Tebboune said, stressing the need for a “clear policy” towards Nigerien people who work in Algeria.

Regarding security cooperation, the Algerian president noted a “full agreement” between the two countries in this area, including training.
