Al-Othaimeen receives Morocco’s envoy to OIC

Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen received here on Thursday Moroccan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mustafa Al-Mansouri, who also serves as Morocco’s permanent representative to the OIC.

During the meeting at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah, the Moroccan envoy signed the Statute of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) on behalf of his country.

The two sides discussed areas of cooperation between the OIC and Morocco and explored ways to solidify bilateral relations.

For his part, the OIC chief commended the Kingdom of Morocco for its leadership role at the Organization and central importance to joint Islamic action.

The IOFS, an affiliated organ of the OIC, was established in 2016 with its headquarters in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. The goals of the IOFS include providing expertise and technical knowledge to the Member States in various aspects of sustainable agriculture, rural development, food security, and biotechnology. The IOFS also assesses and monitors the state of food security, provides social safety nets and humanitarian aid as well as combating desertification, deforestation, and erosion.
