On the eve of the Press and Media Workers Day, a media tour was organized to Fergana region.

The event, organized at the initiative of the regional khokimiyat, began with an acquaintance with the Craftsmen Center in Margilan.

The Center was founded not so long ago on the initiative of a skilled craftsman, Senator Ibrohimjon Sultanov on the basis of public-private partnership. 600 masters, more than 2 thousand women and young people are provided with work here. They produce over 200 types of atlas, adras, rugs, silk fabrics, provide domestic and sewing services. Everyone can become acquainted with the process.

The rug workshop is located on the top floor. All products are 100 percent silk and they are exclusively hand-made.

Products of Ismoiljon Gilamlari enterprise are world famous. In the workshop, natural paints, patterns are applied to silk, fabrics are prepared. Demand is very high. Rugs are exported to Turkey, adras and atlas fabrics to the United States, Italy, France, Russia, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.

“My father was a weaver, and I have been working in this sphere for 20 years”, says entrepreneur I. Sultanov. “Our main customers are foreigners. The price of the cheapest rug is $25 thousand per meter. The size of the rug and the number of knots on it increase the cost. Recently, one of our rugs was sold for $60 thousand”.
