Kabul (UNA-OIC) – At least 16 people were killed in eastern Afghanistan after flash flooding, triggered by torrential rains, swept parts of a mountainous area.
Attaullah Khogyani, the spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar Province, said heavy rains on Friday caused flash flooding in the Khewa district, where 16 people, mostly children, were killed and four others injured.
He added that dozens of homes were damaged by the floods, pointing out that a team has been sent to the area to help with emergency services following the foul weather.
